Washington Fishing Charters

You’ll find that the captains and crews of Washington deep sea fishing charters are very accommodating. Our Captains all have their wa boating license, minimum coast guard safety gear, and the knowledge to put their clients on the fish on a regular basis. For example, combination trips are available. With these, you might fish for salmon part of the day, and then do some bottom fishing, too. That way, you can make the most of your Washington fishing charter. Washington has tons of great freshwater fishing. With the Pacific Ocean, Puget Sound, several straits, and numerous islands, the state provides a wealth of saltwater deep sea fishing opportunities, as well. The most popular marine species with saltwater anglers are salmon, halibut, ling cod, rockfish, and tuna. Best of all, something is always biting – no matter the season.

One of the most sought after fish in Washington waters is the salmon. Chinook, also called “king” salmon, along with coho, or “silver” salmon, are the most targeted of the salmon species in Washington, although chum salmon can also be landed. The state record Chinook weighed 70.5 pounds and was caught in the Pacific near Sekiu, where the largest coho was landed, too, at 25 pounds, 5.44 ounces. The record chum salmon, at over 25 pounds, was caught near Grays Harbor in the Pacific. Numerous charter boats in Washington can help you land a big salmon.

Another prized saltwater fish that are abundant off the Washington coast are halibut. These fish get huge, and they have delicious flesh. They’re usually found on or near the ocean floor, and because of their flat shape and enormous size, it’s often quite a battle to get one landed. They use their unique flat body to their best advantage once hooked. The Washington state record fish weighed an enormous 288 pounds and was caught near the Pacific’s Swiftsure Bank. That’s a lot of fillets! To successfully land a behemoth, you might need some help. Fortunately, there are numerous charter fishing guides to aid you in your quest.

Washington is also blessed with schools of albacore tuna, and these can be caught all year. When weather conditions are right – especially when El Nino pays a visit – the action can be fast and furious. The largest albacore ever recorded in the state weighed in at 52 pounds. Tuna fishing charters in Washington are available.

Ling cod is another tasty fish that can be caught in Washington waters. They can be landed near shore, but these will usually be smaller individuals. To get to the really big ones, you’ll need to fish offshore with a Washington fishing charter. The state record fish was a 61-pounder caught near the San Juan Islands.
