I am fishing with Karl and Jim on Miami Beach this afternoon out of Haulover Marina. We met at 3 PM, I was able to launch the boat then we waited 40 minutes while it poured down rain. It had been like this all day but I needed the system to pass so this winds would turn offshore and make it possible to fish along the beach.

It did and we got out to find birds diving on the beach which were chasing bait, the Mackerel and Bluefish were mixed in. Karl and Jim cast lures hoping for a Tarpon bite while I set out a rod with a jumbo Shrimp. We caught a few of the Mac's and Bluefish but they wanted Tarpon. Karl was working a X Rap when a 50 lb Tarpon hit it, I watched it and gave him instructions. The fish hit and made a couple quick jumps and was gone!

I had thrown the cast net and netted some Pilchards for bait, we had a Pilchard out and while bringing in a second Tarpon hit it. We had 2 more Tarpon take our Shrimp on the drop back as well. We fished all afternoon in the pouring rain and decided to go live chum around the bridge for Snook. The bridge was full of jack Crevalles and no Snook bites. I think Karl said it best "It's cold and I need a beer" so we headed in.

I am with Sam who is a regular customer, he usually brings his grand kids and today is no different.
Max and Emerson are in from Washington D.C. and its cold today. We left Fisher Island and headed over to Government Cut to look for rolling Tarpon, it was foggy, breezy and just unpleasant. We stuck it out hoping it would clear up.

The sun broke thru and and it actually wasn't to bad, Sam just wanted to keep their rods bent so we did. We caught Barracudas, Mackerel, Big Blue Runners, Grunts, Yellowtails, 20 mangroves up to 15 inches and a bunch of Jack Crevalles. The Tarpon started rolling so we moved in and dropped our baits on the school.

The full moon is tomorrow and these fish usually dont eat until later in the eve on the full moons, but its always great to see them get active. Sam was ready for lunch so I took him home.

The Tarpon are in Government Cut and on the Miami Beaches and will be getting better daily, give me a call at 305 333 8149 if I can help.

Captain's Bio: Light tackle sport fishing has been the thing that has driven me for the last 30 years. I have built a reputation for Tarpon from small to giant but I also fish for everthing thats swims. Miami Beach offers year round Tarpon and Snook fishing and I spend over 100 days a year fishing Flamingo which is in Everglades National Park . Flamingo is the saltwater side of the Everglades where we catch Tarpon, Snook Redfish, Trout, Sharks and more! I run a Pathfinder 22 ft Bayboat powered by Yamaha 250 S.H.O.
