with Joe Romak and his son Jonathan out of Key Biscayne today, we started out behind the seaquarium for Tarpon and they were everywhere. Typical Tarpon they weren't eating so I ran to Government Cut. They were everywhere here to but again no takers! We changed gears to just bend the rods and we did Trout, Snappers, Barracudas and then we got into a big school of 3 lb. Jacks where we caught a bunch wore them out a called it a morning.

I am on Key Biscayne again today with Mike Goldin and his 2 sons, Isaac, Josh and a 8 Yr old grandson Mathew, we started out looking for Tarpon. Once I noticed they had very little experience I changed the game plan, we went and caught 25 Mangrove Snappers, Cudas and Jacks to 5lbs. keeping the rods bent for 4 hours.

I am fishing Flamingo with Gus Strickland and his dad Tom today, it is blowing @ 20 mph so I head west and then north looking for Tarpon. We looked for bait but it was hard to find, eventually some mullet popped up and I netted them. We set them out in an area where the Tarpon where rolling and free jumping, we drifted thru the area for an hour with no bites. We picked up and started hitting spot after spot catching a few fish along the way, but not on fire by any means. We were sitting in the middle of some giant Tarpon as they rolled all around our baits, this is Tarpon fishing though! We ended the day with Trout, Jacks, Redfish, Ladyfish, Mackerel, Sharks and even had a Snook on at the end of the day, all while targeting Tarpon!

I am with Kathy Widener tonight in Government Cut, Kathy comes in every year with her husband Rick but he had to work this year and stayed home in San Diego. I got out early and looked for Mullet which have been plentiful until today. I got a couple Mullet and a few pinfish as well and they all got hit or ate by something. I picked Kathy and her sister up and it was blowing 20 straight out of the south it was a little bit bumpy but we managed. The first bait caught a 10 lb Barracuda then the rest were slammed so hard we could not get set up on them, this is a braided line issue! We stuck it out and Kathy started putting fish in the boat, first a 20 inch Mangrove Snapper and then she caught a couple 30 lb Tarpon. We took photos of both and she was going to email her husband to rub it in!
