TAMCO Charity Grand Slam Fishing Tournament, Saltwater Fishing Report

The 5th Annual 2011 TAMCO Charity Grand Slam Fishing Tournament was a big success.

Let me start off by thanking all of America’s heroes for serving our country.

TAMCO Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, non-partisan charity which provides direct support to military veterans from Florida who have been severely wounded and disabled while serving our country.

The overarching aim is to embrace these American Heroes and their families throughout their recovery and their return home as they rebuild their lives and endure associated challenges from their disabilities.

The Greater Tampa Bay community currently is home to 330,000 veterans and will be the home to a "new" generation of disabled veterans that have survived devastating injuries left from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They are proud to announce that with your support TAMCO raised over
$120,000 to help fund our “Embracing Florida’s Wounded Heroes” Program.

They kicked off the event with the famous Captain’s Party Crawfish Boil at the Westshore Yacht Club Thursday, April 14th. Over 350 guests enjoyed crawfish, crab races, and more! Lester Freeman and ‘D’ Band performed flawlessly with a special performance by Belinda Womack. Guest speaker and wounded hero, Kathy Champion spoke powerfully touching on the difficulties heroes often face, and how the foundation is here to help.

Coast guard helicopters led more than 60 boats and 250 anglers and
captains out on the bay Friday morning. Anglers had an opportunity to
meet and thank our wounded heroes for their service. After a long day on the water anglers waited patiently over dinner and drinks as the 2011 Grand Slam Winners were announced.
