Summertime Dophin and Snapper fishing, Freshwater Fishing Report

Our pelagic reef fishing has slowed considerably over the past two weeks off Fort Lauderdale. It has not died completely but we have had to change up the way we are fishing. Our best bet had been dolphin fishing offshore. These fish have been from 4-25miles offshore under weedlines, scattered weeds and under birds. There are not a lot of giants but enough big fish around to keep you hoping. Average fish has been in the 2-10lb. range but we have been catching at least one fish over 10lbs. especially on the trips out past 10 miles. Do target this fish it is best to give it at least a 6 hr trip, as if you do it on a 4 hr and the fish aren't there we have wasted almost all your trip running around. We have been catching these fish both trolling and on live bait.
Also offshore the swordfish bite has been good both day and night. As usual the fish have been bigger in the day but require more work to target them.
Back on the reef the kingfish have slowed a lot but have been able to be targeted if you can continuously work the area that the schools are holding. We have been doing better slow trolling the area with live bait as drifting the area takes you away from the school too fast.
Also on the reef the bonitas are around to keep you tugging on these tough fighters. If you can give it time there are still a few sailfish around. We have done better on sailfish on our afternoon trips which is pretty common in the summer months.
On the bottom off ft. lauderdale the snappers are really biting well. We have been catching muttons from 2-13 lbs. as well as good numbers of both mangrove and yellowtail snapper. Again if you would like to target these tasty fish the best bet has been to dedicate a good portion of you day to it. Also because the grouper season was closed during the winter spawn it seems as though they are still holding on the wrecks in good numbers. We are averaging 2-3 grouper bites while fishing the wrecks for snappers.
In the bahamas the yellowfin tunas are biting really well. Most boats are catching them fairly easily. These fish are medium sized fish with them averaging 25-80lbs. We can put together trips from 1 to however many days you would like to target these fish. Best bet would be a 2-3 day trip to get the most of your money.
