i dont know about the rest of you , but im ready for some warmer weather . its been a pretty cool winter here , and if its not cold , it seems like its raining .
we have , however , been having some great days on the water . the trout have pushed into the creeks and back-bayous , where they are thick as flies . several days lately we`ve had well over 100 fish to the boat . yes , most of them are smaller fish , but who can complain about catching that many in a couple hours .
the redfish have been on the flats in the afternoons , and in any dark-bottom spot in the bay . they will stay in the dark-bottom water because it holds heat better , and get out on a sun warmed flat to soak up some rays .
the bullreds are still in the pass and deepwater spots , and very hungry . for big fish in the bay right now , thats the way to go .
i like to fish rocky structure , sometimes anchored or sometimes drifting , depending on current flow etc...
best baits are a big-ol live shrimp , or a fresh piece of cut-bait.
sometimes however , we will drift and cast the rocks , using either a gold spoon , or a half ounce jig with a white curly-tail grub . this is a good way to cover more water and find the active fish .
pictured here is a very happy young man with one of the brutes we landed the other day . i dont recall how many they caught , but ill say that...seeing red...isnt always a bad thing.
id like to thank my fellow anglers for making my job possible , and my creator , for all the blessings bestowed upon me . if you or someone you know has "special needs" please give me a call , so we can show them a time to remember . i offer free or discount trips for those who quallify . thank you , capt. steve |
Captain's Bio: Hi, my name is Captain Steve I fish the inshore waters of the gulf coast, mainly in Panama City. I've been guiding inshore here for several years and consider myself truly blessed to be able to fish every day, and bring smiles to peoples faces, as I guide them to that trophy redfish or trout, or show a family a time to remember. The waters of the gulf are second to none when it comes to abundant fishing opportunities, and beautiful water. Come fish with me and see what im talking about, thank you, Captain Steve |
