 Shark Fishing Fort Lauderdale
November 26th, 2011
Today we went deep-sea fishing with Mike and his son Mike both out of Chicago.
We went out to 180 feet of water and set out both kites with live goggle eyes (Bait Fish) suspended from the kites..
Ok the trap was set and the wait was on.
Than out of nowhere we saw this nice dolphin fish jumping all over the surface with one of our hooks in him. Mike the son jumped in the chair and within min the dolphin fish was in the box and the skunk was out of the box.
Ok 1 down and we got the baits set right back out there and BAM another rod bent over and line was peeling off as if it had a fright train connected to. O God this one turned out to be a hammer head shark on 30 pound test with a 8 inch piece of #6 wire connected to our 60 pound test leader. The chances of landing this fish were slim to none.
This one was not coming to the boat quite as easy as the dolphin fish did. It turned out to be a gang a little lose a little back and forth tug a war for over 30 min BUT Mike hung in there and at last Mike had this big hammer head shark to the side of the boat.
Mike and Mike way to go and thanks for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.
As we got back to the dock we had Troy and Sergio from Fort Lauderdale and Amy from Utah eager to give their luck a shot at some deep sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.
We went right to kite fishing with 4 live baits suspended from our kites.
The first bite we had turned out to be a nice Wahoo that bit through the leader as if it was made of butter. (RATS)
Ok baits right back out there and BAM here comes a sailfish BUT the second he grabbed the bait he came up jumping and spit the hook. (RATS AND DOUBLE RATS)
Ok set the baits right back out there and here comes another sail and this one had the hook in him so the fight was on. BUT this fish was going nuts jumping all over the place and ended up spitting the hook too.
Finally lady luck was on our side when Amy jumped in the chair and landed a nice dolphin fish.
To all my readers out there I want you guys to know that I don’t like writing about the big ones that got away and while we tend to catch 99% of the fish that bite our baits it is fishing and lets give the fish a little credit too they are fighting for their lives and they are trying to get away and I do pride myself on writing the good the bad and the ugly.
To all of our anglers today thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up and to the lucky fish that got away today CATCH U LATER!!
Guys sorry we did not get any photos today.

Dolphin Fishing off Fort Lauderdale aboard Hooked Up
November 25th, 2011
Dolphin Fishing off Fort Lauderdale
Today we set out on our fishing trip with Frank, Beth, Kennedy and Parker all from North Carolina.
Once again we went right to kite fishing with live baits in about 200 feet of water.
Once all the baits were set out and the trap was set it did not take long till our first bite.
We had a nice dolphin fish jump on our left long kite bait followed up right away with another dolphin at the same time on our right long kite bait.
It turned out to be a good day to be dolphin fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale and I want to once again thank all of our anglers for choosing to fish with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Deep Sea Fishing off the Coast of Fort Lauderdale with Tom and Eric
November 23rd, 2011
More Deep Sea Fishing of the coast of Fort Lauderdale
There is nothing I enjoy more than writing fishing reports about all the fish our angler caught off the coast of fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.
But I do pride myself on writing what we caught and also on what we did not catch. I am sorry to say that today was just one of those days where fishing was just plain old slow.
We headed out fishing with Eric from Texas and Tom from Fort Lauderdale and went right to kite fishing with live baits on the surface and dead baits down deep.
While Tom was able to land a nice dolphin fish for dinner that was the only fish we managed to get into the box today.
Tom and Eric thanks again for going deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up and I promise we will make it up to you guys next time.

Frank and Chris Sail Fishing Fort Lauderdale
November 21st, 2011
Fort Lauderdale Sail Fishing
Winter is here and the time is NOW to go sail fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
Today we had Chris and Frank from New Jersey out off the coast of Fort Lauderdale and sailfish was just the fish we were after.
We set out both kites in about 180 feet of water with 2 live goggle eyes (Live Baits) suspended from them. Ok so the trap was set and than all of a sudden BAM a sailfish showed up and within seconds we were Hooked Up.
Frank jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After a good 20 min back and forth tug a war we finally had Frank’s sailfish next to the boat.
Soon after that Chris found himself doing battle with a nice dolphin fish. After a 5 min battle Chris had his dolphin in the box.
Frank and Chris thanks again for going sail fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

Why, because you get a sport fishing captain who has fished the waters of Fort Lauderdale for over 25 years. I know where to fish and how to fish for sailfish, marlin, tuna, dolphin, barracuda and just about anything that has gills.
You also get a great time fishing with Hooked Up. We're not one of those stuffy South Florida fishing charters where the mate and captain are stuck on themselves and barely talk to you. We want you to party, relax, or whatever you like to do. Our job is to make your time on Hooked Up the most enjoyable you can have in Ft Lauderdale. |
