More Great May Fishing off Ft Lauderdale Hooked Up

May 6
This morning we started out with a batcher party for Steve from Boston along with some of his closed friends also from Boston John, Curtis, another Steve and of course Carmen the drunk. LOL
We also sent 6 more of Steve’s friends out fishing aboard the Marlin My Darlin and while I can’t say much about what took place aboard that boat I can say that when they got back to the dock 4 hours later they had a couple of smoker kingfish that were well over 25 pounds along with a bunch of 10 to 12 pounder and a few bonitos and a nice black fin tuna.
However aboard the Hooked Up after about 15 min and only catching 2 bonitos we got the WORD that’s right they had enough and we were back at the dock in no time.
So this morning I got 2 eggs over easy along with some beacon and hash browns. LOL

As we got back from breakfast we meet Joe from Penn and Adam from Atlanta Ga.
And off we went to give this deep-sea fishing thing another shot.
We set our kites out with some live and dead bait suspended from them along with a couple shark baits set down deep.
We started out catching a dolphin fish out of the kites but when our deep shark rod bent over and line started screaming off the reel we knew this was the fish we were looking for.
After a good 35 min of back and forth tug a war up popped this 350-pound Great Hammer Head Shark.
(Now That’s A Nice Fish)
Thanks again to all of our angler and chummers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we started out fishing with Sahar, Cohen, Assaf and Amar and yes I did spell these names the right!
Ok we started out looking for anything to just bend the rod and today the reef was the way to go. We set out both our planner boards running about 45 feet down and 3 surface baits.
We worked our way down to the south headed for a shipwreck and along the way we caught a few king fish and 5 bonitos.
Once we got to the wreck we dropped a live bait down and BAM we were Hooked Up. After a 10 min battle up popped this 25 pound amber jack.

As we got back to the dock we had Kerry from Dallas Texas and Allan from England eager to give their luck a shot aboard the Hooked Up.
These guys knew just what they wanted and good eating fish was what we were after!
We started out trolling the reef but the reef had just shut down. So we headed out to deeper water looking for some dolphin fish but all we caught off shore was a black fin tuna.
Ok time for plain C!! We went to a different shipwreck and dropped a chicken rig (5 hooks in a line with a lead at the bottom) and tried for some snappers.
As it turned out we made the right choice catching a box full of snappers and dinner for everyone.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we started out fishing with David and Terry from Tenn. and Jason from South Carolina.
We started out kite fishing in 350 feet of water with live and dead baits suspended from the kites along wit a couple shark baits set down deep.
It took a bit of patience but at last one of our big shark rods bent over and we were Hooked Up.
This fish was screaming line off the reel like a fright train but after a good 40 min of back and for battle finally we got this monster hammerhead shark to the boat. Captain J.J. leaned over the side of the boat and was able to get 2 out of the 3 hooks out and we watched him swim away to fight again another day.
Ok the big fish was out of the way and now we needed to get these guys some fish for the table.
We did some deep drops and caught 25 nice snappers for dinner.
Thanks again guys and enjoy dinner.

As we got back to the dock we cleaned up the boat and were just about to call it a day when in pulled this car with mom and dad and kids and they were just in the mood to do a bit of deep-sea fishing.
So we loaded Juan, Damaris, 6-year-old Maviann, 4-year-old Avacelis and 2-year-old Brianny (and yes this is the way they spelled their names) all from Fort Lauderdale and off we went.
We started out fishing the bottom for little fish so the kids could all catch a few fish. After all the kids had landed a few small fish we went trolling the reef catching 2 black fin tunas and a nice king fish.
Thanks again to all the anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Ok today was the big day for all the charter fishing boats off the coast of Fort Lauderdale? Today is the day of the Big annual Ronald McDonald and South West Airlines tournament help to raise money for the Ronald McDonald house.
We call this one (Hook Line and Sinker).
I have not heard yet how much money we raised this year but I do know that we had a total of 18 boats fishing all day.

Aboard the Hooked Up we had Scott and Brandon from Dallas Texas, Brain from Tampa Florida, Sam from Orlando Florida, Jay from Milwaukee and Phil from Fort Lauderdale Florida.
Aboard the Hooked Up we did some trolling and some kite fishing and ended up catching a big black fin tuna a hand full of kingfish, a few bonitos and one big sand bar shark.
But this fishing story ins not so much about what we caught it is more about what got away along with the hard luck trophy that we did not get but we definitely deserved it.
We had caught a nice 10 to 12 pound dolphin fish and as J.J. threw it in the fish box and opened the box to get the hook out and well lets just say the fish also wanted out and jumped back into the sea and just like that he was gone.
(He’s in the boat nope he’s out of the boat what can you do but say that’s fishing!!)

Thanks again to all the Captains and Mates and most of all the anglers who put up the money and made this whole thing happen.
