Hooked Up Sportfishing Charter Trips S.Florida

Today we had Bill, Mimi, Melvin, Brandy and Zaine all from Port St Lucie Florida.
Today we started out trolling the reef catching a box full of bonitos along with a couple of nice kingfish.
As we trolled our way off the coast of Hallandale Beach we brought in the trolling gear and set out a couple of small live bonitos and slow trolled them over a wreck.
All of a sudden with out any warning the water exploded line started peeling off our reel and this monster barracuda came sky rocketing out of the water and dancing all over the place.
Brandy grabbed the rod and the fight was on.
After a 10 min back and forth tug a war Brandy finally got her monster barracuda to the boat. (Way to go Brandy)
As we were heading back toward the dock we had a few min left so we slowed trolled another small bonito over a ledge near our inlet and BAM we were Hooked Up again.
This time little 11 year old Zaine jumped in the chair and after a good 6 to 7 min fight Zaine had caught his first barracuda. (Nice Going Zaine)
Thanks again to the whole gang from Port St Lucie for fishing with us today.

Here we are on the final day of August and we’ve got Mike and Jody, Joel and K.C. all from Kansas City out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.
The plan was to find some good eating fish so we started out trolling the reef headed to the south.
Usually trolling the reef with a couple of deep lines and a few surface baits is the easiest way for us to produce fish but today we just could not seem to get a bite trolling.
Ok so no bites trolling well we decided to switch to plan B. In came all the trolling gear and out went the little jigs in search of little bonitos to use as live bait. The little bonitos were biting well and we had more than enough live baits in no time.
J.J. sent out a couple of these little bonitos with 2 trouble hooks in them. We set out one on the surface and one down deep. At first as we slow trolled them over a wreck we could not get a bite but than out of nowhere there was a big splash and the rod bent over and we were Hooked Up.
Jody got the rod and the fight was on. At this point we really weren’t sure what we had on. All I knew was that I had to get the boat and this fish as far away from this wreck soon before he got us back into the wreck.
Jody hung in there as I kept pulling further and further away till at last we felt safe that we were far enough away.
Bare in mind that we had a big fish on very light spinning tackle so this fight was going to be more technique than strength. Jody had that perfect lady’s touch and within 10 min we could see the monster barracuda slowly working its way to the boat. Just as the fish came to the surface J.J. was ready with the gaff and BAM he was in the boat. Just as we were getting to the high fiving and the handshaking celebrating the other rod took off like a rocket and again we were Hooked Up. This time Joel got the rod and the fight was on again. Once again on light spinning tackle Joel ever so carefully worked his fish to the boat. Joel’s fish turned out to be a big King fish.
Holly cow just like that we went from zero to hero.
Well now that we had found the fish we had no intentions of going till everyone caught a fish.
We caught a couple more barracudas there but nothing like the size of Jody’s.
After everyone had caught a fish we went to another wreck once again looking for some good eating fish and dropped down a live bait 225 feet to the bottom. No bites RATS!
At this point we were about 8 miles south of our inlet so we decided to troll our way back home and landed a couple more kings and 2 more barracudas.
Guy’s thanks again for spending the morning fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.
