So far this month we are getting a nice Mahi bite offshore of Fort Lauderdale Fl. The boat is heading offshore anywhere from 4 to 8 miles depending on where the Mahi bite is and has been. We are catching Mahi in the range of 12 to 15 pounds. Some bigger at the 20+ size range. Same routine as far as what we are fishing, 5 naked/skirted Ballyhoos on the surface, couple baits down deep (for the wahoo bite) and producing fish. Also we are catching a nice grouping of Bonito off our Fort Lauderdale coastline. The shelf drops off very quickly, so with a little current off Fort Lauderdale, we are catching Bonito in the 15 to 20 pound range, also there are mixed in with the Bonito the King Mackerel which also are in the same depth of 150 to 175' of water. We are lucky enough to have such a great supply of bait, ships, mooring balls, which all keep the bait here, in turn the predatory fish feed on the bait. Fishing out of Ft. Lauderdale, you can produce a nice bag of King Mackerel, a half dozen large Bonito, a couple sizeable Barracuda's mixed in with the Mahi Bite which continues to be consistent. Our return fort lauderdale fl resident fishermen continue to book the boat and we thank you for that, also we are luck to have a large amount of wrecks and rock piles that keep the bait and fish around as well.
