Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

With 20% chance of rain forecasted for early evening, still leaves us with plenty of time to do some deep sea fishing in sunny Fort Lauderdale FL. We have blue skies and wind out of the east, southeast at 5-7 mph with a moderate chop for sea conditions.

Mr. Deesote and business associates from Pennsylvania decided to have their conference in Fort Lauderdale and mix business with pleasure by hiring the Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing to do some deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. As I inquired of the group what they would like to catch, unanimously the response was “fish”. So, I started off trolling with four Bonito strips as surface baits and two plainers – one with a #3 drome spoon and the other with a blue and white Sea witch followed with a double hooked Bonito strip. After 45 minutes of trolling around my favorite wrecks that range from 100 ft. to 310 ft. of water, the anglers caught numerous Bonitos in the 8-15 lbs. range and King fish from 5-12 lbs.

The group now requested to do some Shark fishing so I headed out to 350 ft. of water. For bait, we used the freshly caught bloody Bonitos - one Shark bait was on the surface, the other was 100 ft. below the surface and the 3rd bait sat on the bottom. Looking back over the baits, everyone noticed this tail pushing water as it came closer to the surface bait. The tail was attached to a Golden Hammerhead Shark weighing approximately 150 lbs – he grabbed the bait – all eyes upon him – and he gracefully swam towards us. The angler reeled the line in and remarked that the Shark wasn’t fighting and I replied that’s because he does not know he is hooked up yet. A couple of minutes later, the Hammerhead Shark realized he was hooked as the 100 lb. test line screamed off of the 80 International Reel and the fight began. With all 6 anglers taking turns reeling the Shark to the side of the boat, Mitch, our mate, wired the fish to the boat and all cameras flashed. Afterwards we released the Shark to enjoy another day of fishing.

With a good catch of fish on the charter boat Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing, it was time to start heading back from our deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL to the dock at Bahia Mar. This ends another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter on the Happy Day Today/Topshot Fishing with Captain Zsak.
