Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

People from all over the world travel to Fort Lauderdale FL to enjoy our theatres, sports, shopping and deep sea fishing. The weather here in Fort Lauderdale FL must have been ordered by the Chamber of Commerce because we have had blue skies, winds out of the east southeast 5-7 mph and temperatures in the high 80’s, while the northeastern part of our country have been in 100+ degrees.

Michael Kelly and friends from Nashville, Tennessee chartered the Happy Day Today to do some deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. The anglers were interested in catching any species of fish, so again, as we have done in the past, fishing over any of our 34 artificial wrecks in Fort Lauderdale FL was an excellent place to start. We put out two plainers, one 300 ft. behind the boat with a pink sea witch and Bonito strip and the other 100 ft behind the boat with a blue and white sea witch and Bonito strip; for surface baits we went with 4 Bonito strips and one Ballyhoo.

As I trolled towards these artificial wrecks, Bonitos seemed to be the most abundant fish in the waters, ranging anywhere from 5-15 lbs. Being in the Tuna family, Bonitos are very strong fighting fish. We also hooked up a King fish in the 10 lb class on our plainer rod with the pink sea witch. As I trolled around the area of the artificial wreck in Fort Lauderdale FL, we kept hooking up with more King fish. I circled the wrecks and could see on my depth fish finder that the fish were down deep, so we slowed the boat down to let the plainers sink even deeper, and our bite ratio increased. With time slipping by, we started to troll back to the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale FL and hooked up with some Black Fin Tunas on the way. Listening to the radio I could hear some Shark action taking place in 350 ft. of water off of a wreck in South Fort Lauderdale FL. Unfortunately, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale, but it left me with a game plan for my next charter.

This ends another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter on the Happy Day Today with Captain Zsak.
