greetings from the panhandle , the fishing has been great lately.
we are still catching lots of big redfish and sheephead in the pass. nothing beats a big-ol live shrimp soaked on the bottom . ive been doing best on rocky structure in 20+ ft of water . the sheeps are averaging 5 or 6 lbs , with an occasional 10 pounder caught .
the spanish mackerel came in this week with a vengence . they are making life miserable for the schools of glass minnows . some ppl troll mackerel trees , but with 4 hooks , that can be too many fish to deal with at once . i troll a 1/2 oz lead with 5 ft of 50lb leader and the smallest silver or gold spoon i can find . when the spanish get here , lure selection gets slim at the tackle shops , to say the least.
cobia are showing up well , with many fish seen and a few caught . they have been kinda picky so far .
pompano are running the sand-bars....things are really starting to come alive , so come to the gulf-coast , ive got a rod with your name on it....capt. steve |

Captain's Bio: Hi, my name is Captain Steve I fish the inshore waters of the gulf coast, mainly in Panama City. I've been guiding inshore here for several years and consider myself truly blessed to be able to fish every day, and bring smiles to peoples faces, as I guide them to that trophy redfish or trout, or show a family a time to remember. The waters of the gulf are second to none when it comes to abundant fishing opportunities, and beautiful water. Come fish with me and see what im talking about, thank you, Captain Steve |
