The temperatures are starting to fall and ideally we are looking for water temperatures in the low 60's. The channel edges trolling tandem bucktail rigs and stretch 25's are great choices for trolling baits for stripers in the fall.
Casting rattle traps and surface poppers are a great choice for working birds. If you are catching the little stripers on top. Drop to a buctail rig with one to two ounces of weight to drop the lure under the schooling fish. This will enable you to get to the larger fish that are following the bait fish as well.
The tributaries of the bay are also some great spots to catch black strap white perch and stripers. Remember the fish are going to become more active in the early morning and right before dusk. Get out there and enjoy the great outdoors.
