Big Shrimp run = Tarpon

I am in Government Cut filming Sportman's Adventures today with Rick Murphy. The day started with a nice Red Grouper, big Mangroves and a decent Mutton Snapper. We ended the morning with a Permit, Jacks, Mackerel and Rick hooked up on a mid size Tarpon on a new Rapala Gliding Rap. The Tarpon were stacked but just not interested as we dropped Live Shrimp and Trigger X Shrimp on their heads for 4 hours. That is the great part of fishing Government Cut ,you can always catch dinner! The show will be out this spring, awesome day for me!

I am down at Flamingo with my golfing buddies Bruce and Bernie today. I have been telling them about some of my catches recently and they wanted in on it. The conditions weren't great when we got back into Whitewater Bay, it was overcast and the water temp was 66 degrees. The Tarpon don't respond back there until it hits 70 so I ran north looking for action. The sun never really came out and it took all afternoon to reach 70. We went back and hit the shorelines pretty hard with "Twitch n Rap" and Gulp Jerk baits and had some success. On Bernie's first cast he hooked up, it fought like a Redfish but we will never know! The bite was slow probably had to do with this weekends full moon. I have done really well on the full moon in February for the big Tarpon in the back country. I could of easily took these guys out at night off of Miami Beach instead where the Shrimp have been running this week and the tarpon are eating pretty good. Fishing is about taking risk and making the right decision and sometimes we get rewarded. We caught 3 Redfish and 10 Snook to 40 inches. We really had a field day on Bernie's casting but he takes it well! It was around 1:30 PM, the water temp was 70 degrees and we started looking for the big Tarpon. We found them but they were not actively feeding, yet! We kept catching Ladyfish while casting at them after a while we all agreed we were done and headed in.

Evening bite this week will be awesome! If interested give me a call at 305 3338149.

Captain's Bio: Light tackle sport fishing has been the thing that has driven me for the last 30 years. I have built a reputation for Tarpon from small to giant but I also fish for everthing thats swims. Miami Beach offers year round Tarpon and Snook fishing and I spend over 100 days a year fishing Flamingo which is in Everglades National Park . Flamingo is the saltwater side of the Everglades where we catch Tarpon, Snook Redfish, Trout, Sharks and more! I run a Pathfinder 22 ft Bayboat powered by Yamaha 250 S.H.O. I can handle up to 4 people. See my website for more info!
