Beacfh Haven Captains Looking For Good Weather, Saltwater Fishing Report

The captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association are looking forward to an improvement in the weather as well as the fishing action.
Hurricane Irene churned up area waters and pushed most of the summer flounder out of the bays into the ocean. She must also have done something to the fluke’s appetites as local captains had difficulty finding much in the way of concentrations of fish.
Some boats reported some decent black sea bass action, especially on some of the less fished wrecks. The sea bass season stops as of September 11, however, and does not return until November 1.
Just as the waters started to settle from Irene, and the bay water color went back from brown to a more natural grayish-green, Hurricane Lee decided to show up and make an impression.
Weather reports indicate that the Beach Haven area will experience northeast winds along with rain and some thunderstorms right up to the weekend. The captains are hoping that this weekend will see a return to some decent action on the fluke.
The offshore bite for tuna and mahi-mahi was strong after Irene, and if the weather conditions permit trips to the canyons, that should be a good option.
