Freshwater Fishing In Mississippi
Mississippi has all the right ingredients for great freshwater fishing – especially for the king of freshwater sportfishing, the largemouth bass. Many Florida-strain largemouths were introduced into Mississippi waters years ago, and they’re thriving. The state record largemouth weighed a whopping 18 pounds, 2 ounces. Both largemouth and smallmouth bass can be found all over the state, in a variety of waters.
Other Popular Species
Mississippi anglers love their bass fishing, but other species are popular, too. These include crappie, bluegill, warmouth, green sunfish, and white bass. Walleye fishing is popular in the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers, and giant catfish can be found in the rivers and in lakes and reservoirs.
