New River Fishing Guide And Charter

|
New River fishing offers many species that anglers would label as gamefish and muskie is definitely in this group, in fact New River muskie fishing is at the top of the group. The muskie is the largest of all big game fish found while fishing New River. New River muskie fishing is a specialty of Captain Mike Coley, a long time and highly experienced New River fishing guide.
Muskie are stocked in New River from West Virginia to North Carolina. Muskie get very large and Virginia's state record muskie weighs in at a hefty 45 lbs 8 ozs. This record muskie was caught in the lower New River in June 2007.
Getting hooked up to and landing a trophy muskie can be a real challenge even for the most experienced angler. Cast after cast after cast is not uncommon before a toothy muskie finally grabs hold of and sucks down your bait. That's when the excitement begins and when the memories start. Even if you are not an experienced angler your captain, New River fishing guide Mike Coley will help you with all the tips and information you need to land one of these exciting fighting critters.
When it comes to muskie fishing on New River Captain Mike knows where the best numbers are, where the biggest trophy fish are, and what baits to use at any given time to hook up with one of these magnificent fish.

Captains Bio:
Captain Mike Coley is originally from Greensboro, NC now living in Radford, VA with his wife Debby. I come from a fishing family. My mom and dad taught me how to fish at a early age fishing primarily for largemouth bass and some saltwater fishing. Made my first trip to Smith Mtn Lake in VA in 1978 and got "hooked" on striped bass. Started a career as a full time striper guide on that lake in 1987 and never looked back.
Moved my striped bass fishing and guiding entirely to TN more than 10 years ago. Guide clients to numerous fish from 30 lbs to 55 lbs. Always loved the west, especially the Rocky Mtn region. I have guided both rifle and archery hunters for muledeer, whitetail, antelope and elk every fall since 1998. The New River area is now my home and its waters provide excellent opportunities for smallmouth on flyrod or light tackle spinning gear.
I caught 5 largemouth between 10 lbs and 11 lbs 4 ozs by the time I was 18 and I honestly prefer a 4 lb+ river smallie to those bass. Although definetly one of freshwaters more difficult fish to catch, the New holds good numbers of musky and some of "awesome" proportions. I love musky fishing and guiding. Our current state record stands at 45 lbs 8 oz. and was caught from the area of the New I fish. |
