The fish holding the record for brown trout tipped the scales at 36 pounds, 8.9 ounces, and the record tiger trout weighed 20 pounds, 13 ounces. Lake Superior produced the 47-pound record lake trout. Lake Geneva, Rock Lake, Dark Lake, Sand Lake, Deep Lake, Jordan Lake, Wood Lake, and Green Lake also support good numbers of trout.
The state stocks catchable-size rainbow, brown, and brook trout in several streams. Walleye angling in Wisconsin is extremely popular, and it’s also very productive. The state record walleye weighed 18 pounds and was landed in High Lake. Other great walleye hot spots include the Mississippi River, the Wisconsin River, Grindstone Lake, Shell Lake, Lake Winnebago, Tomahawk Lake, Wisconsin Lake, Lake Poygan, Long Lake, Pelican Lake, Escanaba Lake, Kentucky Lake, Diamond Lake, and Lake Geneva.
