Arizona Fly Fishing Guides

If you were to mention fly fishing while you were in Arizona, most anglers in the state would automatically associate it with trout fishing. Despite having a desert landscape, the Grand Canyon State provides some great fishing opportunities, including some fine fly fishing for trout. Several of Arizona’s rivers, lakes, and streams hold healthy populations of rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, and native Apache trout, along with the occasional cutthroat and there are numerous Arizona fly fishing guides to fish them.

Most of the best trout fishing is found in the White Mountains, where beautiful natural landscapes abound. Other top venues are in and around Sedona and the Mogollon Rim.

The White Mountains are located in the east-central part of Arizona, near the border with New Mexico. Tributaries of the Salt River and the Little Colorado River drain the mountains, and there are also several lakes in the area. The Little Colorado River here is cold and clear, with brown trout, brook trout, and rainbows. Silver Creek is perhaps the best place in the state to land a large rainbow, and Apache trout can also be caught. Both the west and east forks of the Black River also offer great fly fishing for trout, including rainbow, brown, and Apache trout. Some of the best trout lakes in the area are Crescent Lake, Big Lake, Hulsey Lake, Fool Hollow Lake, Sunrise Lake, and Show Low Lake. If you need a professional guide, you’ll be able to find numerous Arizona flyfishing guides who angle this area regularly.

Fly Fishing Guides in Arizona

The Sedona area covers the upper part of the Sonoran Desert in the northern part of the state. Filled with rugged formations of red sandstone, this area has often been called the most beautiful setting in the United States. In addition to its famous red rocks, Sedona has numerous hiking and biking trails, in addition to two great trout streams – Beaver Creek and Oak Creek. Oak Creek runs right through town and has some of the best trout fishing in the state. Fed by cold springs, the upper reaches of the creek is home to wild brown trout and to rainbow trout. Arizona fly fishing guides are available to help make your fly fishing adventure more successful.

Arizona’s Mogollon Rim runs across the state and is riddled with canyons, cliffs, pines, streams, and lakes. Chevelon Lake offers some great fly fishing for big brown trout, as well as rainbows. Willow Springs Lake is another good bet for ‘bows, with a state record fish landed here. Other Rim lakes that provide good trout fishing include Bear Canyon Lake, Knoll Lake, Woods Canyon Lake, and Black Canyon Lake. For fly fishing the area’s streams for trout, try East Clear Creek, Canyon Creek, and Chevelon Creek. You’ll have more success by hiring an Arizona fly fishing guide to help you navigate and put you on the fish.
